BANGKOK'S GOT 5 EMERGING THAI CELEBRITY CHEFS

Bangkok now has a new generation of extremely talented young Thai celebrity chefs all of whom will be cooking at Chim Bangkok 2014. They are all passionate foodies who have sought to learn from the best. The result is a structured disciplined approach to sourcing the best ingredients, using the most appropriate cooking techniques, and modern artistic plating.

Nan Bunyasaranand


Her culinary foundations were laid first at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok then at Hotel Adlon Kempinski’s Michelin stared Lorenz Adlon restaurant. While in New York she studied at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) completed in an externship with Jean-George Vongerichten, then post graduation worked with premier chef Thomas Keller. On her return to Thailand founded Tastebuds, a door to door dining service, five years later opened Little Beast a contemporary French American restaurant in 2012.

Zra Jiraratana (Chef Ton)


Educated in UK and a computer science graduate from Assumption University. But it was his passion food that drove him to be a chef. A diploma course graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School, then gained work experience at the former Bonjour French restaurant. His first restaurant was The Aston Gastro Bar at Crystal Design Centre in 2010. He moved his current restaurant Aston 31 in 2013. His cooking style is the marriage of arts and science, cooking the best ingredient with the most appropriate techniques.

Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn


Educated in Thailand  Chef Ton went to The States to study at  the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). After graduating Chef Ton stayed on in America to gain a strong culinary foundation  while working at Eleven Maddison Park, The Modern and Jean-George. He returned home to show of his creative talents for combining modern techniques with bold Asian flavours. His food combines the delicious and the beautiful with delicate artful presentation.

Apirawat Chaopo-en (Chef Mai) 


Three years working at Le Normandie, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok gave Chef Mai the opportunity to hone his talent from visiting 3 Michelin stared chefs. That was the source of his passion for cuisine and culinary art. He believes that everything on the plate must be edible, beautiful and absolutely delicious. From a classic French foundation he has developed his own East mets west style using innovative techniques.and imaginative presentation with respect for the quality of the produce. He won Iron Chef Thailand 2014

Thaninthorn Chantrawan (Chef Noom)


17 years a chef during which time he has worked in over 10 of the UK’s leading restaurants, many with Michelin stars and competed in numerous cooking shows. He has worked with two of Britain’s top celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Heston Bluementhal. Now back in his native Thailand Chef Noom is now Executive Chef at Osha and authentic brand from San Francisco, California that was founded at the same he was starting out as a chef, they are the same vintage.
