THINK OF LIVING: L-SHAPE, THE SHAPE OF PRIVACY

When it comes to design, Sansiri aims to offer more than just aesthetic appeals. Real-life practicality is also what the company emphasizes on. Mr. Apichart Chutrakul, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Manu Trakulwattanakij, Senior Vice President Project Management and Marketing Department &Product Development Department, Sansiri Plc. both led a Sansiri product development team that has continued to surprise home-seekers with home design innovations.

Mr. Apichart stated that, “Over the past years, we have introduced a number of groundbreaking home designs to our customers such as ‘Thai Series’ and ‘Modernised Bangkok’, and each of them received a very warm welcome. The launch of the ‘L-Shape’ home design further underlines the leading status of Sansiri as a trendsetter in the Thai real estate industry. Our design team worked very hard in creating this new home design with an emphasis on ‘desirable privacy’. We wanted to make sure that all areas within this house are utilised for optimum use. We also worked with leading furniture brands to create exclusively designed furniture items for this house, giving it a distinct value and appeal.”

Mr. Manu further noted that, “We wanted to create a revolutionary home design so the ‘L-Shape’ concept was developed from thinking upside down. In most conventional homes, we often see the house being placed right in the middle of a land plot, with narrow walkways surrounding it in all directions. Those narrow spaces are hardly put into any real good use. But with the ‘L-Shape’ concept, these areas are put into the best practical use. For example, the service area, which is usually hidden at the rear of the house, is now put right in front so that you have extra space in the courtyard for other activities, and if you wish, for greater privacy. Initially, only twelve limited-edition ‘L-Shape’ homes are available at Setthasiri Krungthep Kreetha.”

“By positioning the large green garden to the rear of the house and reorganising the living room and dining room areas, residents are provided with even greater home privacy. Recognising this growing customer need, Sansiri made sure that the element of privacy was a foremost priority in the ‘L-Shape’ design and construction. Here, indoor living and outdoor activities are harmoniously interwoven. For example, when you’re relaxing in the living room, the outdoor garden provides a relaxing atmosphere.”

“Another unique attribute of the ‘L-Shape’ design house is that four houses in four adjacent land plots are designed in such a way that their courtyards are facing each other, together forming a large green space. Such intelligent landscaping also allows even better air flow and circulation and gives each house an extended, wider green area with a scenic panoramic vista. The view is even better from the second floor of each house.”

“Moreover, we worked closely with leading furniture makers such as Modernform, SB Furniture and VRH to help us create exclusive furniture collections for ‘L-Shape’ homes that stand out both in terms of aesthetic appeal and great functionality.” added Mr. Manu.

Promising young businessman, emerging designer and owner of ‘Pastel’ brand of fashion items, Thanadol Itthiravivong, gave his opinion on what a ‘good home’ really means for him. “My works require a great deal of creativity, and now that ‘Pastel’ begins to be recognized, I have to try even harder to always come up with new ideas to fascinate customers. When I get home, I often feel flatted out. To me, a good home should be a place where you can thoroughly relax and fully recharge your battery. I don’t understand why most real estate developers in Thailand always place the courtyard in front of the house. I find it difficult to utilise such a green space for some private moments like a family celebration or a quiet moment reading a book because there are always some people passing by. I lived in the United States for a long time. There, home designers place great importance on privacy. I have always wished that such a privacy-oriented concept will one day be adopted here in Thailand. When I first heard that Sansiri is working on the ‘L-Shape’ concept, I became very interested. It could be a very important first step to change the perception of Thai consumers regarding what good home privacy should be.”

Famous painter, “Tum” – Sutt Pornnimit, and his wife, writer and designer, “Vee” – Hiroko Limwipuwat, commented that, “Both myself and my wife, we very much value our privacy. We both are very individualistic and we know exactly what we want to do. We are freelancers so we both spend a lot of time at home. When we are home, we always have our own ways of working and enjoying our time. Like when I work, I need to arrange a special quiet place where I can unleash my full imagination. Our dream home must not be too big or too small, but be of an optimum size and privacy. We need it to be a place we can not only relax in, but also have enough spaces for us to do what we want. My wife loves gardening. She has always dreamed of having her own little garden. That way, she can do her work at the same as enjoying her gardening. And I can probably get some inspiration from her garden as well.” Khun Tum said before leading a group of participants in a fun-filled painting workshop that focused on the topic of ‘privacy’.

Inspired by the idea “to make all parts of the house an area where you can truly be yourself and fully relax in”, Sansiri invites you to discover a whole new meaning of home privacy with the innovative ‘L-Shape’ home design today.

Famed writer and editor of Polkadot Publishing House, “Tukta”–Panida Eiamsirinopkul, expressed her impressions of the new ‘L-Shape’ design. “I travel a lot and get to see distinctive home designs in many countries. One of the design concepts that truly strike me is the idea to move the courtyard to the back of the house. This offers much greater privacy, allowing residents to make the most of this relaxing space. If your work requires you to have quiet moments with yourself, such privacy is what you very much desire and deserve. I am a full-time mother and also work as a writer, so I hardly have any free time. But when I do have some, I want to be able to make the most of it. These days, most of my time is spent with my daughter at home. If we can have our very own private space for playing and relaxing, it would be great, and not only for the kid, but also for all in the family.”
