Staged throughout the year, the crystal anniversary celebrations also include guest rooms refurbishment programme and a new Chefs’ T able, along with corporate responsibility and sustainability programmes for the Thai community, special packages and special menus.
In May 2013, the hotel launched the Fifteen Facets package, highlighting 15 unique Peninsula Bangkok experiences, ranging from the “Footprint from the Past” programme, a private dinner at the hotel’s unique Paribatra aviation lounge, special spa treatments and more. In August 2013, Executive Chinese Chef Jackie Ho launched a new concept Chefs’ Table in the kitchen of the hotel’s award- winning Chinese restaurant, Mei Jiang. Throughout the anniversary year, The Peninsula Bangkok has undertaken activities to raise fund for the Foundation for the Better Life of Children (FBLC), the hotel's selected charitable partner. Meanwhile, over 100 staff members who have worked at the hotel since it first opened its doors are being presented with special awards in recognition of their outstanding service. These are just some of the ways the hotel is celebrating this milestone occasion.
“BEAUTY ALONG THE CHAO PHRAYA RIVER” – THE WINNERS!
Given The Peninsula Bangkok's spectacular position on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the anniversary prompted the hotel to highlight this stunning location through the launch of a prestigious photo competition “Beauty Along The Chao Phraya River”, the five winners of which can now be announced.
The Grand Prize is awarded to Mr Hansa Tangmanpoowadol, who wins round trip, business class tickets for two from Bangkok to Tokyo, with three nights’ accommodation at The Peninsula Tokyo. The other winners are: Mr Rachawat Chavienghong (second place), Mr Suthat Chaithaweesap (third place), Ms Adira Nooduang (fourth place) and Ms Supawin Thansubharerk (fifth place). They are rewarded with luxurious stays at The Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Bangkok.
The winning images portray compelling stories of the river, its culture and the lifestyle of its people. Selected photos will be used as artwork in the newly refurbished guest rooms at The Peninsula Bangkok.
The “Beauty Along The Chao Phraya River” photo competition was initiated in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Coca-Cola (Thailand) Limited, Ricoh (Thailand) Co., Limited, Carpets International Thailand and Cathay Pacific.
THE PENINSULA BANGKOK REIGNITES LOBBY LIFE
Also as part of the celebrations, The Peninsula Bangkok has revived the art of living it up in The Lobby with a designer-driven, floor-to-ceiling re-styling of The Lobby that heralds a whole new look and feel.
The all-original design concepts were developed by DMI (Thailand) Co., Ltd., led by Mr Sajja Mayalarp, in close collaboration with The Peninsula group design team.
“The main inspiration for the new lobby came from a desire to proudly present a fresh, enlivening space with sophisticated and modern Asian features and accents, all within the intriguing context of Thai culture,” revealed Mr Mayalarp.
The mood and tone are light, soft and comfortable with cream and specially brown hues that are ravishingly complemented by the teardrop shape and pastel shades of the glass chandelier, specially commissioned from the renowned house of Lasvit. Thai-inspired patterns are artfully woven into the carpeting, and the windows are framed with finest Jim Thompson silk draperies and Roman blinds. Simple and elegant Asian contemporary teak wood tables and chairs for meetings and gourmet dining are complemented by well-sprung sofas and arm chairs, accepted in a variety of colours and textures, harmonised with the lobby’s overall design features and accents.

In addition, The Peninsula Bangkok is rewarding customers with the chance to win a grand, 15th anniversary celebration prize of a 15-night, complimentary stay in one of The Peninsula Bangkok’s luxurious rooms.
