WISH YOU WERE HERE: WHERE TO STAY DURING SONGKRAN IN BANGKOK, THAILAND
Where

The Songkran Festival 2013 is considered as the “Thai New Year.” Expect thousands of Thais on every street on this occasion. Count on water-dousing antics that you will remember for a long period time. Songkran 2013 will be held from 13 to 15 April  in Thailand, National Holidays will range from 13 to 17 April 2013.

April is generally a hot month in Thailand, because it signifies the country’s summer season. During the Songkran Festival 2013, you can immerse in a “complementary bath,” and you too, can give others a bath! Your kids will enjoy splashing other people with their water guns.

During the Songkran Festival, it is customary for residents to visit the wat or Buddhist temples to pay their respects to Buddha. They also pour water on the face of Buddha statues to cleanse them gently.

Wish you were here!

Centara Hotels & Resorts is offering a special Songkran package at selected properties that are for a minimum two nights’ stay and includes breakfast for two persons, a laundry credit, and a Songkran survival kit that includes two water shooters per room and plastic waterproof covers for valuables.

Songkran, also known as the Water Festival, is the traditional Thai New Year and is celebrated from 13 to 15 April. The most obvious part of the celebrations, in which everyone joins, is the throwing of water. Buckets, hoses and water shooters are all part of the fun, and no one avoids a soaking or being smeared with white talcum powder. Songkran has become a major attraction for foreign tourists, and large numbers visit Thailand during this time specifically to take part in the exuberance.
