|Bold and beautiful, daring and desirable
Longchamp presents “More is More”. Channelling the indomitable spirit of Diana Vreeland, who famously declared, “Never fear being vulgar, just boring”, the season’s star bag collection is so daring, so desirable, we’ll all be clamouring for more.
With the passion of a collector adding another precious and intriguing artefact to an already overflowing cabinet of curiosities, “More is More” accumulates rich textures and refined details that indulge the Longchamp woman’s love of luxury. Lavish fur, exotic finishes and flashes of fluo are the signatures of a line that revels in rarity, adroitly treading the fine line between boldness and brashness, extravagance and excess.
Two shapes – a tote and a clutch, both swinging from dainty chain handles – are interpreted in twelve dazzling variations, including six limited editions, from which the Longchamp woman can pick and choose at will. Combining colours that delight the eye with textures that seduce the senses, each is a concentrate of chic and glamour, an enchantment for every day. Among the highlights: fluffy long-haired lambskin in duck blue trimmed with fir green python-styled calfskin and metallic métis leather, or sleek short-haired lambskin in mocha trimmed with burgundy python-styled calfskin. Meanwhile, a decadent all-black version in long-haired lambskin is trimmed with patent mock croc and anthracite métis leather, and accessorized with gunmetal hardware.
For the six limited editions, “More is More” becomes most is most. Long-haired fox fur in chic camel is trimmed with khaki python-styled calfskin and walnut mock croc, electrified by a flash of fluorescent green faux shagreen, while mocha rabbit fur is illuminated by burgundy python and a pop of raspberry calfskin. Gold chain handles further ratchet up the glamour, but – true to the refined spirit of the collection – the metal is brushed and burnished, so the effect is bold, not bling. Expressing the Longchamp woman’s most extravagant facet, other versions run wild with animal influences: tiger-stripe short-haired calfskin is trimmed with crocodile and python-styled leather, and – in what must be the season’s most glamorous take on military – a camouflage print on short-haired calfskin is teamed with khaki python and ostrich finishes and emergency orange faux shagreen.
“More is More” by Longchamp. Excessive, extravagant, extraordinary. Why settle for less?
