TripAdvisor announced the winners of its 2015 Travelers’ Choice™ awards for Beaches. In its third year, the awards recognise the best beaches globally.
“It’s that time of year when most people are dreaming of lying on a beach, so it’s the perfect time to unveil the world’s best beaches, based on feedback from the TripAdvisor community,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “Travellers can find affordable hotel deals on TripAdvisor at these award-winning beach destinations, enabling them to turn their dreams into reality.”
The beaches of Phuket and Krabi in the South of Thailand dominate Thailand’s top ten with eight beaches included. Thailand’s beaches also featured in Asia’s top 10 list, with Phuket’s Nai Harn beach taking the third spot. Railey Beach in Krabi (#7), Kata beach in Phuket (#8) and Phra Nang beach (#9) also made it to the list.

Travellers’ Choice award-winning beaches were determined based on the quantity and quality of traveller reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor gathered over a 12-month period.

Top 10 Travellers’ Choice Beaches in Thailand:
1. Nai Harn Beach, Phuket
Located in the south of Phuket, Nai Harn beach is beautiful and tranquil with excellent water quality and jungle-covered mountains. There is also a large freshwater lagoon inland. “It was one of the best beaches of Phuket. Small but superb and waves were smooth. Loved Nai Harn.,” commented a TripAdvisor reviewer.
2. Railay Beach, Krabi
Railay Beach in Krabi has a quiet relaxing atmosphere, sheltered by limestone cliffs where rock climbers excitedly wish to experience. A TripAdvisor reviewer noted, “Blissful location reachable by Long Tail boat from Ao Nang for 150 baht each way. So much to explore, wildlife, walking, caves, climbing and lots of friendly monkeys.”
3. Kata Noi Beach, Phuket
Along the south western part of Phuket is Kata Noi beach. This white sandy beach has incredibly clear blue waters during the high season. It has long been a popular spot for surfers in the monsoon season of May to October. “It was a stunning clean beach with turquoise sea and light golden sand. It is a public beach but it is one of the cleanest public beaches that I have been to,” added a TripAdvisor reviewer.
4. Phra Nang Beach, Krabi
Phra Nang Beach at the southern end of the Railay peninsula is one of the finest beaches in Thailand. It has a broad strip of white soft sand and turquoise waters, with massive cliffs. The southern tip of the beach is a large cave with a shrine dedicated to an ancient fertility goddess.
A TripAdvisor reviewer said, “The sand is smooth and descends evenly and the waters are crystal blue. If you are feeling brave, swim over to the cave and climb around during low tide.”
5. Sunrise Beach, Satun
Sunrise Beach is located along the west side of Koh Lipe in Satun province. The waters are crystal clear. It is very nice to start the day with an exquisite sunrise. Try snorkeling from the beach to see an abundance of exotic marine life. “I can see myself living here for the rest of my life - the beach is beautiful beyond words and locals are a laid back and fun-loving bunch. I'm definitely coming back here!” commented a TripAdvisor reviewer.
6. Thong Nai Pan Noi, Surat Thani
A stunning beach in Koh Phangan in the Surat Thani province, Thong Nai Pan Noi is a very clean, calm and relaxing place with a beautiful sunset. A TripAdvisor reviewer noted, “I'd go back to this beach any day- the best beach in Thailand in my opinion.”
7. Karon Beach, Phuket
Located on the west coast, Karon Beach features the third longest beach on Phuket Island. The beach offers great snorkeling and diving spots and peaceful enough for the beachgoers to never feel crowded. “This beach is located a little uphill and hence is very scenic. You can actually see clouds on hill just in front of you,” said a TripAdvisor reviewer.
8. Freedom Beach, Phuket
Freedom Beach is on Phuket’s west coast. It has white sand set in a superb bay and hills covered by thick and luxuriant jungle. Apart from sunbathing, popular activities that can be enjoyed at Freedom Beach are beach soccer, beach volleyball, and snorkeling. “The place is gorgeous and an oasis of peace,” commented a TripAdvisor reviewer.
9. Long Beach, Krabi
Long Beach or Kad Yao is an untouched beach in Krabi Province, and perhaps the most spectacular with its views of Jum Mountain and Ao Nang's cliff walls. “Very nice beach, we stayed here daytime and it was great. Nice sand, great water and easy-going atmosphere,” said a TripAdvisor reviewer.
10. Laem Tong Bay, Krabi
Laem Tong Beach is in the north of Phi Phi Island in Krabi. It is a magical and exclusive place for a relaxing and quiet holiday. A TripAdvisor reviewer said, “Very beautiful sand beach with palm trees around and luxury hotels, also some nice quiet bars and restaurants along the beach.”
